PALIVOU
Wina PALIVOU
anemos-white-jpg

Anemos white
Regional white dry wine of Peloponnese
Grape Varieties: Roditis (white fox)
Region of Production: Ancient Nemea
At the highest point of Ancient Nemea  at a chalky and graveled soil, with very light composition we had to plant a variety less demanding in water and rich soil. We selected Roditis, an indigenous Greek variety, at dense planting –595 vines per stremm- applying the appropriate pruning and training system harvesting only very few grapes per vine which due to the microclimate of the region mature easily and in uniformity. The foliage due to the dense planting protects the grapes from the sun radiation securing the demanding quantity and quality.
The variety of Roditis unfolds its merits. A fruity wine with aromas and flavour of fresh fruits: apples, bananas, pears, pineapple and lemon blossoms. Pleasant and balanced wine with soft mouthfeel, refreshing acidity and fruity aftertaste.
Food Suggestions: fish, white meat, pasta and also as an aperitif. Best served at a temperature of 8-12oC.

Regional red dry wine of Peloponnese
Grape Varieties: Agiorgitiko (St.George)
Region of Production: Ancient Nemea
At the slopes of Giougriza Hills in Ancient Nemea, where the excavations brought to light ancient jars containing grape seeds and only a few meters from the Temple of Nemeiou Dia, a small vineyard is established from 1965 up to 1984 with Agiorgitiko. Aiming for a wine which would express only the characteristics of this variety and with clean aroma and flavour; we grow grapes applying on a three generations experience and knowledge. Personal treatment and cultivated practices from the formation of the grapes up to maturation guarantees the high quality result.
The winemaking process could not be other than special, in a way which Agiorgitiko could express with the most intense way the rich aromatic character into a full bodied wine with soft tannins. The result is a deep-coloured, purple wine with intense fruity and clean aroma and the flavours of cherries, strawberries and gooseberries dominating. The silky mouthfeel and the full of grapejuice aftertaste give the impression that you are tasting grapes from the vineyard on September.
Food Suggestions: red meat, pasta with red sauces and assortment of cheeses. Best served at a temperature of 14-16oC.

Regional white dry wine of Peloponnese
Grape Varieties: Chardonnay & Malagousia
Region of Production: Ancient Nemea
The Greek variety of Malagousia combined with the world famous Chardonnay. The fruity characters of Chardonnay with pineapples, bananas, apples and pears married uniquely with the more ripe characters of peach, apricot and orange of Malagousia. Chardonnay’s acidity softens from the pleasant mouth feel of Malagousia. A fragile balance creating a delicated wine.
Malagousia is a rare indigenous white variety; very sensitive and hard to cultivate which a few years ago, had almost disappeared from Greece. Its unique characters have gained our attention and we couldn’t but plant it in one of our vineyards. Among with Malagousia at a chalky site of the same vineyard we planted Chardonnay searching for complexity and fullness for the blend of these two varieties.
Food Suggestions: creasy fishes, seafood pasta, white meat, salads and cheeses. Best served at a temperature of 8-12oC.

Regional rose dry wine of Peloponnese
Grape Varieties: Agiorgitiko (St.George) - Syrah

Agiorgitiko confirms its versatile nature producing apart from full bodied red wines also excellent rose. Aromas of strawberries, cherries and goose berries, combined with citrus aromas. V.Q.P.R.D Nemea
Variety: Agiorgitiko (St.George)
Region of Production: Ancient Nemea
Unjustified this vineyard planted into rocks, could be proud of its fruit. Its position at a poor, full of clay soil, its slope (17%) and its north-east direction give all the elements for an ideal grape for a wine made to age with us. The training of the vines in a way that the grapes are as small as possible, monitoring the maturation and removing the oversized grapes up to the end of spring results to a small intensively dark coloured and thick skinned grape. The selection of this particular vineyard its cultivating techniques and the grapes during vintage contribute detrimentally to a unique and special Nemea.
The winemaking process and the long lasting post-ferment maceration is the tool which will make this dense grape become a wine. Following that, this thick, dark coloured with aggressive tannins wine will fill new French oak barrels, maturing for 12-14 months. The forest of origin of the oak, the toasted level and the capacity of the barrels have being carefully selected after long term trials. The process of aging is completed during the bottle maturation in our cellar for further 6-8 months.
Food Suggestions: red meat and poultry with rich sauces. Best served at a temperature of 14-16oC.

Variety: Agiorgitiko (St.George)
Region of Production: Ancient Nemea
Aging: 18 months in barriques (225 lt), 90% French oak, 10% American oak.
Climate, soil and cultivation methods result to the production of high quality grapes. Planted on light, sandy soil at the slopes of Ancient Nemea valley and at very low yield Agiorgitiko is at its best. The result of all the above is a dark coloured, loose and thick skinned grape with thick tannins and concentrated flavour suitable for making wine for long aging.
The characteristics of the grape variety Agiorgitiko at the top. Deep, dark and thick colour with intensely fruity nose with cherries, forest fruits and baked raisin in balance with the characters of vanilla, dried fruits and chocolate that comes from the long aging process in the oak barrels. Thick and aggressive tannins that require time to smooth. Undoubtfully a wine that loves bottle and demands aging in cellar to unfold its merits.
Food Suggestions: red meat with spicy sauces and steaks. Best served at a temperature of 16-18oC.

Regional red dry wine of Peloponnese
Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon
Region of Production: Ancient Nemea
Limited number of bottles
Aging: 20 months in barriques (225 lt), 100% French oak.
We grew up in this region with the grapes of Agiorgitiko, the local variety , grapegrowing and winemaking this variety for years feeling lucky for being born here. During each vintage this region never missed the chance to underline through the rich red wines its precious value. Feeling obligated to allow this region to prove its uniqueness as a distinctive wine region we planted a few stremms with Cabernet Sauvignon giving the chance to create wines with unique characters.
The great potential of Cabernet Sauvignon is expressed into through this wine. The initial discreet presence of capsicum, black olive and pepper are giving place to clearly fruity characters of cherries, sour-cherries and plums. The long aging into oak barrels masters the rich and aggressive tannins adding tones of vanilla, smoke and chocolate. Long and intense aftertaste from a wine with masculine characters made for long aging.
Food Suggestions: red meat with spicy sauces and steaks and cheeses. Best served at a temperature of 18-19oC.

Planted on light lime soil and at extremely low yield we secure the required high quality standards for this wine. We apply late harvest at the specific vineyard taking the risk of losing the harvest due to the weather conditions that may cause us problems. Bunch at the size of a feast and thick skinned berries are promising of a great wine.
Green pepper and spicy characters are giving place to fruity and vanilla tones. High acidity, typical of the grape variety, long and intense tannins and long aftertaste demand long aging in the bottle for at least a few years. A wine ready to payback the people that have the patience to wait.
Food Suggestions: red meat with spicy sauces,  steaks and matured yellow cheeses. Best served at a temperature of 16-18oC.

The aromas are transformed into flavors flooding the mouth. Acidity that refreshes and tones up the palate. A fragile balance between acidity and maturity that fascinates.
